Chelsea: The • Dot • Project
What: Picasso Baby
When: Private View 1st February, 6pm – 9pm
Where: The Dot Project, 94 Fulham Road, London SW3 6HS
The Dot Project is back with Picasso Baby, exhibiting the work of four London based emerging artists. The name reflects the early phase of these artists’ careers, a period of movement and uncertainty – drawing comparison with Picasso’s famous ‘blue period’ from 1901-1904 – a time when he moved from Spain to Paris. The exhibition gives us an insight into what the ‘blue period’ is for contemporary artists today. The Dot Projects writes that this exhibition “examines how the internet and social media epidemic has blurred the lines between high and low art as a result of excessive accessibility, which provides us with an opportunity to view the Old, Modern and Contemporary Masters in one feed, but does a million likes make it a masterpiece?”
Are things always what they seem? Is what is online an honest reflection of what exists? This one’s for the millennial…x
The exhibition is on until March 18th 2018, RSVP for Private Launch.
